Additional Flooding Concerns

March 28, 2018 By admin Leave a Comment

Due to the recent flooding event in the Spottsville / Reed areas of Henderson County and the forecast for more rain this weekend and into next week as well, has raised the potential for additional flooding in our area.

The Henderson County Judge Executive, Brad Schneider, and Henderson County Emergency Management Director, Larry Koerber, strongly encourage residents of flood prone areas to again closely monitor river levels and rain forecasts.

The recent flooding in Spottsville/Reed area had a Ohio River Crest at the Newburgh Lock and Dam on 2-28-18 of 50.12 feet (according to NWS, Mary Lamb), the flood stage is 38.0 feet at that location.

With the anticipated rain for the next 48 hours, the NWS forecast’s the Ohio River to Crest, at Newburgh Lock and Dam, next week at over 42.0 feet.

Be aware and be prepared to move to higher ground as soon as you feel threaten by the rising water.
