Warming Shelter Opened in Henderson

Family Warming Shelter
White Flag Event
Tuesday, January 29, 2019

With sub-zero wind chills and single digit temperatures forecast over the next 48 hours, the Henderson Community Baptist Church in coordination with Henderson Emergency Management and the Henderson VOAD is opening a family warming shelter in their Gymnasium.

They will be serving an evening meal and breakfast during this period for those who need to get out of the cold. All of this is done by volunteers of the church. Additional volunteers and donations are welcome. Contact the church for details. Mattresses and blankets will also be provided.

When: Tuesday, January 29, 2019, 4:00pm – Thursday, January 31, Noon

Transportation
Those needing transportation from outside the city limits (in Henderson County) should call the Henderson Emergency Operations Center at (270) 831-1235 no later than 4pm daily with the name, address where to be picked up and if the person needing transport is ambulatory or not. GRITS will pick up and will return those people home free of charge.

Those needing transportation within the city limits may use the City Transit System (HART) until 5:00 PM and ride the bus to the Saddlebrook bus stop which is near the Church. Just tell the driver you need to go to the warming shelter.
