Weather Spotter Training

January 26, 2014 By admin Leave a Comment

GRASP_logoWith less than two months until our spring severe weather season starts, spotter training opportunities are starting to appear.

If you are one who runs outside to watch the storms roll in, we’ve got the perfect opportunity for you. Weather Spotters are the “Tip of the spear” when it comes to getting on scene information back to  Emergency Management Officials and The National Weather Service (NWS) who immediately alert the public.

We have developed a regional weather spotter team who’s responsibility is to provide the necessary information back to us and NWS. Our weather spotter program, called GRASP, was developed in cooperation between Henderson and Daviess County Emergency Management Agencies.

Currently, GRASP members meet on a monthly basis for training and to discuss events that have happened around our area.

If you would like to get involved, complete our spotter application here.
